News

I'll try to keep this updated with news in anime. If anyone has any current events, e-mail me so I can post them here!

Luz-chan: Again, I'm behind anime news. However, I'll try to update more often.

  • Naruto is going to debut on Cartoon Network on September 10th, 2005 at 9 pm with two episodes in a row. One whole hour of Naruto, and the best part is, it repeats the same episodes at 10 and 10:30. After that, it will settle into the regular weekly schedule of 9 pm on 9/17.
  • Adult Swim will air Neon Genesis Evangelion, although no definite date has been set yet.
  • Hayao Miyazaki's latest film, Howl's Moving Castle, has premiered some time ago, and is a big hit in theatres.

10-19-04
Luz-chan: I have been behind anime news for awhile due to school and personal issues. However, me and Meiko-chan are back with additional news.

  • According to TokyoPop, they're planning to release a live action version of Samurai Girl Real Bout High School, featuring Melissa Joan Hart. If you don't know her, she's Sabrina from Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
  • Ultimate Disney said that they plan to release Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind, and Porco Rosso on February 22nd, 2005.
  • On Adult Swim, Full Metal Alchemist will make their debut on Nov. 6th, at midnight. Afterwards, Ghost in the Shell premieres at 12:30.

    4-20-04
Luz-chan: Whew! We have been behind in anime news. Well, I'm here to save the day:

    • Cartoon Network announced that they will air Inu Yasha Saturday nights at 11 pm and again at 2 am. They also plan to air the IY movies as well.
    • Speaking of CN, Wolf's Rain will premiered on Saturday, April 24th, at 11:30 pm
    • A mahou shoujo series, Tokyo Mew Mew, will be aired on the Fox Box this fall(downfall: they changed it to "Hollywood Mew Mew". Don't ask)
    • FUNamation will release the lost episodes of Dragon Ball GT on July 13th
That's about all I can remember. If I come across some additions, I'll add them to MA.

Ninja Scroll, a 13-episode TV series making its debut earlier this year in Japan, will be released this September 2nd on DVD.  The series is a continuation of the wildly popular and award-winning anime feature film (of the same name), written and directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri. Taking place in ancient Japan, Ninja Scroll is the story of a wandering Ninja warrior named Jubei. The music for this soundtrack (to be released on August 26th) is co-scored by Golden Globe & Grammy Award winning artist Kitaro and multi-instrumentalist and composer, Peter (Peas) McEvilley.
