Inu YashaWritten by: Luz-chan*sigh* It has been awhile since my last anime review. Since then, I had been rewatching some anime, like Trigun and Cowboy Bebop (reviews for those coming soon). However, I noticed that there's one series in particular that nobody had reviewed yet, and I want to take the time to do it. Why? For 2 reasons: 1. It's currently one of my favorite series, and 2. It's currently being aired on Adult Swim. The show? Inu Yasha. This series takes place in the Senjoku Jidai (the Warring-States Era). A hanyou (half-demon) named Inu Yasha seeks the Shikon no Tama (Jewel of Four Souls) in order to become a youkai (full demon). He attacks a village in order to get it, but the guardian of the jewel, a priestress named Kikyo, sealed Inu Yasha to a tree with a magical arrow. Kikyo, unforuntely, dies shortly afterward from fatal wounds. Fast forward to the present-time, about 500 years later, where a young 15-year-old girl named Kagome, was pulled into the Bone-Eaters' Well by a demon on her birthday, back to the Warring-States era, where 50 years has passed. She meets Inu Yasha, breaking the spell on the arrow by pulling it out. Inu Yasha is one of my favorite series, along with Gravitation and Card Captor Sakura (it's a long list of favorite anime for me). It has awesome animation, romance, drama, some comedy points (two points: 1. Kagome has the power to control Inu Yasha with just one word: osuwari (sit), and 2. Miroku is a pervert, asking every woman he seeks if they could bear him a son). It's a great anime to watch, and it's currently airing on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, Mon.-Wed. at 12:30 am with new episodes, and Sat. at 1 am with old episodes. Check out the gallery here |
